Primal Bursts Guide
How Primal Bursts work in Endless Ragnarok: Link Time, Full Burst chains, co-op coordination, and Conflux usage.
What Is a Primal Burst?
Primal Bursts are Endless Ragnarok's evolution of chain bursts. When your party enters Link Time, Lyria begins channeling a primal beast. If all four members execute a Full Burst—each using their Skybound Art in quick succession—Lyria automatically summons a primal for a devastating follow-up attack.
Primal Bursts deal massive damage and can trigger additional effects depending on equipped Summons. They are restricted to Fatebreaker quests (Chaos or higher) and certain Conflux combat stages—the same zones where standard Summon invocation is enabled.
Solo vs Co-op Execution
In four-player co-op, Primal Bursts are the highest skill-check mechanic in Endless Ragnarok. All four humans must land Skybound Arts during the Link Time window. Voice comms or ping systems help, but random matchmaking often fails this check against EX Burst bosses.
Solo players rely on AI companions. SS-tier AI picks—Eugen, Cagliostro, Zeta, Sandalphon—consistently fire SBAs on time. See our AI party guide for skill recommendations that maximize AI burst reliability. Backup Characters add a fourth developed slot when your roster lacks a strong AI SBA user.
Primal Bursts vs Standard Summons
Standard Summon invocation uses the shared gauge—you press shoulder button + direction when gauge covers cost. Primal Bursts do not consume gauge the same way; they trigger automatically after the Full Burst chain. Both systems coexist in Chaos fights:
- Use Summons defensively to soak EX Burst telegraphs (all Summons are invincible while active)
- Save Link Time windows for Primal Burst setup rather than individual gauge spending
- Coordinate so gauge is not empty when Link Time begins—some teams hold one cheap Summon for post-burst cleanup
Passive traits on all four equipped Summons still apply even when only one slot is actively invoked in full parties.
Boss Fight Tips
Chaos and Fatebreaker bosses often enter extended Overdrive phases where Primal Burst damage spikes with Celestial Incendo sigils (+50% DMG Cap vs Overdrive at Lvl 15). Time your Link Time entry for Overdrive breaks when possible.
Practice on A Trial of Two Eternities—the first Fatebreaker rank-up quest that also drops the Fatebreaker sigil. Pair with our sigils guide and Chaos difficulty guide for full team building.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does every Summon appear in Primal Bursts?
The manifesting primal depends on equipped Summons and party state. Open beta featured Proto Bahamut; the full game includes multiple primals.
Can Primal Bursts fail?
Yes. If any member misses the SBA window during Link Time, the Full Burst chain breaks and Lyria does not summon.
Do Primal Bursts work in base game Proud quests?
No. They require Fatebreaker-grade content (Chaos+) or specific Conflux areas.
